About Troop 979
Since the 1950's, countless families have sent their 11-year old sons into the Boy Scout Troop 979 program and watched them emerge seven years later as outstanding young men. Some became valedictorians, athletes, doctors, lawyers, firemen, policemen, teachers, scientists, and business owners. All were better prepared to face the challenges and choices of young adulthood.
Boy Scout Troop 979 has been a success for more than 50 years. It is a program filled with challenging activities like camping, outdoor cooking, swimming, and first aid. It is a program that offers opportunities for succeeding and for failing; for leading and for following; and for learning and for teaching. It is a program centered on fun with activities like basketball, football, softball, camping, canoeing, hiking, sailing, and archery.
Would your son, relative or neighbor benefit from a Scouting program like Troop 979? Is he in the 6th, 7th, or 8th grades? Come find out why so many families have chosen to send their sons to be Boy Scouts with Troop 979. Boy Scout Troop 979 meets Thursdays, 7PM - 9PM during the school year (Starting September 25, 2008) at the Congregational Church of Jefferson Park, 5320 W. Giddings, Chicago.
We also have a Cub Scout Pack at the church and would welcome boys in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades, or ages 7 through 11. Contact Webmaster@Troop979.org for more information on how your son can become a member of Boy Scout Troop 979 or Cub Scout Pack 3979!
