Our first Troop Committee meeting for the new calendar year will be an important one, since we have a lot on the agenda: Our Pot Luck Dinner, Scout Sunday, and the Auction. The meeting is set for Wednesday, January 8th, at 8:00 P.M.. All committee members are urged to attend this meeting, as well as interested parents.
Our scout meeting on January 9th will feature our annual Caesar's Olympic Games. Our post-meeting meeting will be the occasion of selecting our Chairman for our Parents Night program, so leaders should be present. Speaking of Parents Night each patrol will have a leader working with them to counsel them in "Not Putting Of f Until Tomorrow Things You Can Do Today". The counselors are Doug Sanders (Eagles), Francis O'Byrne (Tigers), Mike Bujewski (Bears), Steve Prus (Buffalos) and Jim Broccolino (Pioneers).
Judy Houston has kindly volunteered to head our Mothers Club Division in getting ready for our Pot Luck Dinner. This is scheduled for February 8th, and is always a great Feeding Event. Judy will need help from all of' our mothers, so stand ready to help. Francis O'Byrne took some great video shots of our troop at camp last summer, and if we can get it edited down to a one hour show perhaps we will be able to present it after the Great Meal is over. You will really enjoy this if we can pull it off.
This year we will have five, scouts receiving their Eagle Award on Scout Sunday, namely Nick J., Przemek U., Luke W., Dave O. and Greg S., so Scout Sunday should be special again this year. Mark the date on your calendar now, February 16th. There will be more details in the next Courier.
Parents Night this year comes on March 7th, and on that date we will be collecting the parents share of our summer camp fees. Since we are going to Northwestern. Minnesota this summer we will be undergoing a lot more expenses that last year, and for this reason it is important the boys make significant progress on their required advancement. No shows can be costly. So get going, guys!!!!!
Speaking of advancement, Citizenship in the World merit badge will be offered on January 11th and 18th, time to be selected. There will be no make-up sessions, scouts must attend both. Those who can no do so will have to complete the badge on their own. Scouts who need this badge are Brandon H., Jeff K., Paul R., Doug R., Mike S., Ed S. and Peter U.. On the same dates Doug Sanders will be having his First Aid Classes. They will be held in the afternoon, and boys going for First Class need this badge.
A Bit of This and That: We have our winter cabin-out on the week end of January 24th-26th. This is a Fancy Cabin with an inside flush toilet and all of those other things that Jim Heinlein loves, like a thermostat. The cuisine is, out of. this world, especially the Spam Sandwiches and the maschicolitatti concocted by Doug Sanders. And the price just can't be beat,..$6.00 for four great meals!!!! ...............We welcome T. to our troop. Tim is the brother of Brendon and the much loved son of Judy and Kevin. .........we will also be welcoming Tim M. who will be crossing over the bridge. Tim hails from Buffalo Grove, and and is the pal and buddy of Kevin K., the famous Pioneer Patrol Guy, who is dear son of: Dawn and Ed Kowynia, who are also the proud parents of Matt, the pioneer Patrol Leader, all of whom have a dog named Abby and a very loverly sister, daughter dog owner named Sara.
Happy 2003 to All!
